We know Kelly Campers are rugged yet light & dependable hand crafted Australian manufactured off road camper trailers.
So what do our customers think about owning Kelly Campers?
Read all about that below...
Ned's Family XC-1
In the second half of 2018 Ned was sitting in his Darwin home searching the internet for a fully Australian manufactured off road camper trailer. His search brought him across Kelly Campers which caught his attention. This in turn lead to an email enquiry, phone calls, further emails and eventually, Ned made the very brave decision to purchase the Kelly Campers XC-1 ... all without even laying eyes on the physical product. We shipped his camper up to Darwin with Shaw's Transport just in time for Christmas. Ned was one of two customers to do this in 2018, the other was Tony from Perth (read his story below).
WOW! You say?
Well that's what Ned said too when his Black Beauty landed. He and his Family of four have taken their XC-1 across some rugged NT & WA terrain including the Gibb River Rd. Other destinations include El Questro, Cape Keruadren and Barn Hill Station. Ned & his Family throw their tents & swags out and soak up the lifestyle that owning a Kelly Camper allows them. Ned installed his own solar panels and basket amongst other things and he is planning on adding an Australian made rooftop tent before their next adventure.
This is what Ned had to say after the Gibb.
"We have made it back from our trip across the north west and loved it. I just wanted to let you guys know that black beauty stood up to its name & was a little beauty. The trailer performed flawlessly and did the Gibb without a hitch."
A BIG thumbs up from Ned!
Duncan & Nola's Custom PopTop
Duncan & Nola approached us earlier this year (2019) to talk about a custom build pop top van that they could finish "decking out" themselves. We hashed out a plan and provided them with concept drawings and design ideas and the finished product rolled out to two very excited and happy customers who were straight on the road to "Scots in the Bush" at Boondooma Dam where Duncan was to play the bagpipes. We used StyroMax insulated panels keeping the weight down considerably. This unit's tare was under 1.2 tonne which isn't bad for a 5.5m van.
Steven's Brilliant Blue XC-1
Steven & his wife Diana took delivery of this brilliant blue XC-1 in December 2018 and instantly fell in love with it.
He chose Kelly Campers over Patriot because we had a immense range of options to kit out his trailer, a great deal more storage space, the reliability & dependability he was looking for and were considerably cheaper.
Steve added the all Australian made Crazy Dog roof top tent, Australian made 270º foxwing awning & walls, our custom awning weather gap filler, a custom shoe rack to keep the inside of the tent cleaner & Smarttek6 hot water system & tripod just to name a few.
Steve also chose to option up his CruiseMaster XT suspension to airbag and in his own words...
"The additional cost for air bag suspension was forgotten when we experienced how incredibly well the trailer towed. I was in two minds if to go with air bag suspension or not, so glad we did it is just so smooth"
"The camper is awesome, really happy with it"
Shane & Heather's XC-1
This racy red number was commissioned by Shane & Heather in 2018 and was a wonderful addition of colour to the rainbow of Kelly Campers XC-1 campers touring around. They like to get away whenever time permits and absolutely love their camper, which certainly turns heads wherever it goes.
What Gary has to say about his Kelly Campers experience.
"I bought a Kelly Camper because I believe it to the best camper to suit my needs. It will follow me (and it has) wherever I take the 4WD and get back again. It is quick to setup and break camp, so perfect for touring where single night camps are common. It is also perfect for spending a week away in the same spot as it has plenty of water and power. I'll be taking it to Byron Bay to go surfing and I will be taking it into the desert and eventually the Kimberly. Who knows, maybe even the Canning Stock Route? Being Australian made has meant that I can have a few custom modifications added in the build. The XC-1 is a great camper and Kelly Campers are a great team to deal with."
Why did you buy a Kelly Camper? "I wanted a trailer that I could confidently take everywhere my 4WD could go... and back again."
Where have you been in your Kelly Camper? "Kinkuna, Girraween, Double Island Point, Nymboida and the Barrington Tops."
What do you like most about your Kelly Camper? "Quick & easy to setup, everything at my fingertips in the kitchen, huge storage area and great components in every aspect of the camper."
Gary equipped his XC-1 with a complete Enerdrive power system as he is very power hungry due to his work as a camper trailer/caravan independent reviewer.
As we like to say...HE TESTED THE REST AND BOUGHT THE BEST!
The first camper to roll out of Kelly Campers in 2019 was an grey XC-1 which was again purchased site unseen by a WA customer. Steve had contacted us after finding us in his google searches when he was looking for an Australian manufactured off road camper. We shipped his camper via sea freight to Fremantle. Tony supplied his own rooftop tent which we installed during the fit out stage.

Joe and Melanie's Glenrowan
Joe & Melanie bought an ex demonstrator Glenrowan in 2016 and are now seasoned Kelly Campers. They travel with their young daughter on most occasions and pitch a tent which attaches to the side of the awning to accommodate her and any friends that join her.
Melanie: "Very friendly and helpful staff. I feel that I can call them up anytime and ask anything. I must admit that I was worried about purchasing a camper from Bundaberg as it’s an 8 hr drive from Mackay, however they are only a phone call away. When we did have an issue they offered to either come to Mackay or organise someone here to fix it"
Why did you buy a Kelly Camper? "It’s fabulous for big road trips as it’s so easy to set up. This was one of the main reasons we got the Kelly Camper. That, and it has all the mod cons, including a shower"
Where have you been in your Kelly Camper? "Lawn Hill, Burdekin Dam, Julia Creek, Winton, Longreach, Blue Mountains, Katoomba, Jenolan Caves, Carnarvon Gorge, Blackdown Tableland National Park, Lennox Heads, Red Rock, Newcastle, Sydney, Nambucca Heads, Port Macquarie, Hawkes Nest, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Mount Glorious, Ballina and Byron Bay"
What do you like most about your Kelly Camper? "It’s also great for weekend camping as so much gear is already packed. You only need to think about food! There is room inside to leave a change of clothes so I don’t even need to pack that. The fridge on the side is an excellent idea as it’s so convenient when set up. It’s also great when you are travelling and just want to stop and top up foods/ drinks.
Overall we are really happy with it"
Brian and Maureen's Beechworth
In 2016 Brian & Maureen approached us to build them a camper trailer with an extended cabin to create more space internally. This saw the birth of the Beechworth which today is our luxuriously appointed hybrid off road model and is certainly the pride of the fleet.
Brian: "We have travelled over 3'000 kms in the last 2 months towing our camper from Brisbane to Bruny Island and up the East Coast of Tasmania to Musselroe along some very dusty roads and had our fair share of wet weather. The camper has been an absolute pleasure to tow and very easy to setup for a night or 3 in complete comfort"
Why did you buy a Kelly Camper? "Suited our requirements, easy to set up, comfortable and able to go off road."
Where have you been in your Kelly Camper? Tasmania, Stradbroke Island and Agnes Water."
What do you like most about your Kelly Camper? "Quick & easy to set up and pack up."
Peter and Jenny's Greta

Peter: "We have been very happy with the way it has been built and the staff are all great to deal with. Any work we have had done has been done promptly. We would definitely buy another one when we are in the position to upgrade. We like the fact they will build to what you want to suit your needs. Great business to deal with and we thoroughly recommend them!!!"
Why did you buy a Kelly Camper? "We liked the way they were built. Looked so much stronger than others we looked at and less canvas."
